Dec 13th 2009 : Veda's & The Vedic Culture - BELIEFS AND APPREHENSIONS ( Session 2)

Vidwan Balagaru Ruchirachar explaining a technical point

Shri Ruchirachar with audience during the discourse

Continuing from the previous session, Vidwan Balagaru Ruchirachar explained why we have diverged from the divine vedic culture and the various difficulties and pitfalls we encounter, while travelling on the vedic path.

Based on the success of the previous programme's Q&A session, we had lots of questions from the audience which the learned Acharya patiently answered. Due to shortage of time, all questions could not be covered and the same will be carried over to the next session.

Most of the questions asked by audience reflected the state and mood of the society, especially among the younger generation who have an inclination towards spirituality but are unaware of how to approach it.

A landmark achievement in this session was that the entire programme was relayed LIVE via a webcast on the internet via USTREAM.COM. We even had the internet audience participate in the Q&A session. A replay of this session can be seen on :

Vidwan Balagaru Ruchirachar took us through the literal meaning of the word Veda and explained concepts of 'Veda Apaurusheyatva' and helped the audience understand the challenges which our Vedic culture has been facing.

This was followed by an extensive Q&A Session during which many practical aspects of 'Saadhana' (साधना, ಸಾಧನೆ ) were discussed.

The first programme of our center was an interactive discussion between the audience and Dr.H.Satyanarayanachar who initially took us through what Spirituality is and conveyed its necessity in our life.

This was followed by an Q&A session which was well utilised and appreciated by the audience. There were several questions on the rituals followed in today's world and how it linked to vedic practices ; There were also several questions on the Karma theory and the timing of when one's Paapa (Sin's) or Punya (Good Deed's) fructify.

Overall, an encouraging session to start with and our heartfelt thanks to Dr.Satyanarayanachar for his valuable time and his encouraging words for us !

‘Do I need Spirituality ?’

A unique program in the form of an open discussion has been organised with Dr.H.Satyanarayanachaar (Professor, Shri Poornapragna Vidyapeetha ) on October 04th, 2009 and has been aptly titled as - ‘Do I need Spirituality ?’ .

This concept was born out of the initial interactions of the core group of the – BTM Layout, Koramangala and Indiranagar (BKI) branch of Shri Vishva Madhva Maha Parishath (VMMP). A strong need was felt to facilitate a platform where todays interested, modern minds of the young and the not-so-young alike, could test their own beliefs, ask questions and find for themselves, a path - to lead , a spiritually superior life !

The core-group of this branch has been meeting regularly both physically and virtually to come up with topics of interest and new ideas for the activities of the branch. Attached here are a few photo's from our first meeting. Photos are courtesy of Mr.Anantha Murthy and Smt.Sudha Murthy.

Todays interested minds are typically characterised by :

* Firstly – a strong need for reason/ justification before committing to any action or series of actions leading to a habit
* Secondly – an incisive mindset, that needs to measure the facts well, before accepting them as conclusive proofs
* Thirdly – and most importantly, an inherent belief (in most cases), that the divine scriptures have the key to lead a far more superior life, as compared to their current, divergent lifestyle.

While the above points may not be all-encompassing, the belief is that it may capture the overall sentiment of todays generation. With the blessings of 1008 Shri Shri Satyatmatheertha Swamiji and under the able guidance of Shri.Madhu Rao, we intend to bridge this gap as much as possible.

This session is our first attempt and hopefully will be the first among the many more sessions to come.
